Greenock Creek Marananga 'Cornerstone' Grenache
The vines were planted in the early 1960s on a shallow, light sandy soil over flint and quartz.Ā We find that the sandy soil profile yields smaller berries with thicker skins, resulting in wines of a darker colour than is typical for Grenache. The sand lends a fruit profile of strawberries and raspberries, a brightness against which the sprinkling of white pepper stands out. The flint and quartz give the wine a mineralĀ backbone and powdery texture.Ā
Product of Barossa Valley, South Australia.
