A fascinating wine that literally ebbs and flows from dark, brooding, and closed to fruit-driven and open. Plenty of aromatics, lavender, and mulberry but also a slightly baked earth character. The palate is concentrated yet sleek with a real mineral, wet slate, and almost saline edge and whilst there appears to be a significant level of tannins, they are enrobed by the generous fruit. Decanting is a must. Gamey foods would work a treat.
